In the space of forty-eight hours on 8 and 9 April 1830, no less than three vessels were wrecked on Stroma. The Wick (possibly Leith), schooner, Edina, laden with coal and provisions from Leith to Corfu, struck a rock off the west side of the island on the night of 8 April and was totally wrecked.
The next day in dense fog the Aesceili and Anna stranded off the north end of Stroma, while the Thetis struck on the south end and sank. The crews of all three vessels were saved with difficulty.
